Organised as part of the nationwide Architecture for Everyone campaign, created in memory of murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence, the event was one of four workshops taking place around the UK during the month aimed at identifying Britain’s architects of the future. One of the participants, Callum Gilbert, won one of six summer architecture scholarships at Harvard University. SCAPE workshops SCAPE was formed in July 2008 by Julia Chance, architect, and Charlotte Healey, primary school teacher. The mission of SCAPE is to bring together knowledge and experiences from the two disciplines of school teaching and architectural practice and to deliver architectural workshops in schools. Work aims to help school children to engage with the built environment around them as well as enabling them to participate in a design process where activities are tailored to their own experiences.
